For Psychologists, Psychotherapists & Coaches

Welcome to The Three Lies Institute

Educational resources for counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists, supervisors, and other mental health professionals interested in anxiety, formulation, emotional regulation, shame, self-concept, and compassionate clinical work.

The Three Lies™ Framework is a proposed, practice-informed formulation heuristic developed by Dr Eileen Higgins. It is not a validated diagnostic model, assessment tool, or standalone treatment.

What We Are Building

CPD training and practitioner resources, grounded in careful clinical thinking

The Three Lies™ Institute is developing CPD training, practitioner resources, reflective formulation tools, and future research pathways relating to The Three Lies™ Framework and TLAQ™.

New CPD Training

Upcoming workshops that explore the framework in greater depth, building on the introductory session.

TLAQ™ Training

Guidance on the developing Three Lies Anxiety Questionnaire, and how to hold it as a descriptive, practice-informed tool.

Practitioner Worksheets

Free downloadable worksheets and reflection tools to use in supervision or personal review.

Future CPD Updates

Ongoing developments, research pathways, and new resources as the framework continues to evolve.

“I can't cope.”
“I'm not good enough.”
“I'm unlovable, unwanted, or I don't belong.”
The Framework

Three themes. One collaborative lens.

The framework gathers clinically recognisable anxiety-related narratives into three broad, proposed formulation themes: used tentatively, collaboratively, and only where clinically appropriate.
